Cuesta-Rey Centenario Pyramid No. 9
I don't smoke many mild cigars anymore. In fact, this is probably the only conn. shade wrapped cigar I keep in my humidor intentionally. The reason for this is because it is so consistently a great smoke for me.
Today's was no exception. Fuente made and all Dominican. 6 1/4 x 52. The wrapper was smooth and a bit ruddy. Excellent burn and lots of smoke from beginning to end. Draw was perfect. The taste is what always gets me. A bit sweet with hints of berries. Now, mind you, I rarely if ever can pick out "flavors" in cigars. These, on the other hand, are hard to miss. For a mild cigar, I don't think you can beat the flavor profile. This particular No. 9 had a creaminess that I just loved. Plus, the finish is long and demands to be savored. These might not be for everyone and the price ($4.70 per stick on avg. from JRs) can seem a bit much for a mild cigar. But, for me, they are the perfect break from my typical full strength smokes. If you haven't tried one or it's been a while, I very much recommend giving them a shot. |
