I really wanted one of my Cubans last evening, but I grabbed a single African Fuerte that's been banging around in my 'dor for too long and decided to fire it rather than look at it any longer. It was ugly, because the foot was all split and the wrapper was coming off.
I tried to light the thing as is, but no dice. I finally took my cutter and did surgery on the first 3/4 inch of the cigar to remove the damage so it would draw without sucking air. From the get-go this was a delicious, full bodied, complex cigar worthy of anybody. Even those Havana Snobs who claim to not like anything else. I'd like to get a box of these and keep them for those times I need a small smoke that packs a wallop of flavor.
