This year’s release of Las Calaveras has a Nicaraguan Oscuro wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler. The wrapper is lightly veined and slightly oily. Aromas from the foot and the wrapper are very light. The cold draw is perfect with light sweet notes.



Initial flavors are very earthy with a light sweetness. There are some hints of flavors that may develop. The ash is mottled grey and fairly solid and the burn is mostly even.



In the first third the flavor profile picks up a fruit note, somewhere between apple and plum. The earthy base remains solid. The smoke is thick and medium bodied. The ash remains solid and the burn remains even.



During the second third the light fruit notes remain with some oak notes developing with the earthy base. Drinking a very light lemonade. The body is medium and smooth. The ash is chunky; mostly solid but breaking at intervals. The burn remains even.



Approaching the final inch the flavor profile remains steady. A good complexity that occasionally hints at a bit of creaminess. The ash remains consistent and the burn remains even.



Overall a very good experience. The sweetness is consistent with most Oscuro wrappers, and the earth and wood are indicative of Nicaraguan tobacco. The finish is smooth and earthy. The construction is very good. 9.2/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
