Stillwell Star Bayou No. 32 Toro from DTT

This is one of the new series of cigars from Steve Saka blending select pipe tobaccos with Nicaraguan filler. It has a Grade A Ecuador Habano wrapper over a San Andreas Negro binder. The pipe tobaccos are Bright and Red Virginia leaf with St. James Parish Perique. The wrapper is smooth with some light veins. The aromas from the foot are light with some spicy notes. The cold draw is perfect.

The initial flavors are the distinct “twang” of Perique and light sweetness of the Virginians over the rich earthy notes of Nicaraguan tobacco. The retohale is velvety smooth. The ash is mottled grey and fairly solid looking and the burn is even.

In the first third the flavor profile remains complex and tasty. The ash fell at about one inch in. The burn remains even. The cigar is producing a large volume of thick, rich smoke.

During the second third the pipe tobaccos pick up in the flavor profile while the rich earthy notes remain. The combination of pipe and cigar tobaccos are very pleasant in this medium bodied smoke. The ash remains a bit flaky and the burn remains even.

Approaching the final inch the flavor profile remains steady. Perique is one of my favorite pipe tobaccos and I use it in my personal blend. The retohale has developed light to medium pepper notes. The ash continues to tap off easily and the burn remains even.

Overall a very good, unique experience. The complexity is excellent and the construction is great. A must try for people who smoke both cigars and pipes. 9.2/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
