Cigar tour part two
Well, Saturday I had the honor of driving two lovely young ladies to three cigar friendly shops/bars. Cigarlady, who some of you may have met here on-line at CW, and Christina, both put up with my dirty jokes and boorish behavior.
We started out by leaving (escaping) Canton and driving out to Pinkney to go to the Smokers Outlet. It is in its own building and has a decent smoking lounge. Lots of leather chairs and a couple of flatscreens. Very nice humidor. Prices were in line with other BM's. Our biggest complaint was the lack of ventilation. 15 foot high ceilings but the smoke just hung head high. The Hemingway Classic I purchased was so musty it was unsmokable. The girls enjoyed their smokes, and my sister dropped by to have a smoke! We then drove out to Southfield to go to Churchills on 12 mile and Telegraph. A very nice, but small store with a beautiful lounge. Tables and chairs in one room, Couches in the other. Tv in both rooms. No bar. Terrific humidor. Lot's of hard to find stuff. I had an Alec Bradley Tempus Figarado covered with plume on the way to this store, and a perfect Hemingway Classic at the store. We were joined by our friends Matt and Rachael and we had a grand time. Michigan beat ND which made the visit even better! From here we were going to go to JR's to buy cigars but they close at 5:00pm on Saturday. We ended up at Styx in Southgate, a very nice cigar/martini bar. Here we were met by our friend Willie, who is celebrating a birthday this weekend. Needless to say we had a heck of a good time. The humidor here is dissapointing. Policy states that you must purchase your cigars here to smoke here. But we each bought one cigar and smoked our own the rest of the night without any harrassment. I smoked several good cigars here finishing with a three year old Cuban Bolivar Belicoso gifted to me by Heather. We closed Styx at 2:15am and called it a night. Another great tour. We are planning our next soon! My cigars for the night: 1 Nico Libre Churchill (A mild cigar to start the afternoon) 2 Hemingway Classics (The first was unsmokable, the second was fantastic) 1 Alec Bradley Tempus Figarado (Covered with plume, as was Heather's - very tasty) 1 Gran Habano Blue Churchill (A decent cigar, certainly better that the regular line) 1 Tatuaje Black Toro? (not real sure about the size, bigger than a robusto, smaller than a churchill, not tubed - terrific cigar) 1 Cuban Boli Beli (With Bombay Saphire neat, this is the best way to finish the tour)
