Monte Robusto EL 2006 from "Mr. Retailer"
First, thank you to Azam for sending this to me. Second, I feel it is definitely genuine. The cigar was incredibly strong & tannic, with earthy & leathery flavors. Very little flavor development as I smoked. That certainly is not unusual for a cigar so young. At this point, I would say this cigar tastes very similar to a young RyJ Cazadores.
There seems to be a lot of great potential for this cigar. I never smoked the original release Robusto when fresh, but have heard they also were quite tannic when young. I smoked a couple of the originals recently & they are quite an excellent cigar. I feel the new release will also become excellent over time. To my point of view, if you're buying these new ELs to smoke now, get a box of Cazadores instead and save a couple hundred dollars. If you have the willpower to put these away for at least 2-3 years, you will be rewarded with a truly first class smoke. |
