All you NOLAites would be proud of me!

Against all odds, I actually found a bottle of Peychaud's Bitters at the Big Red Liquor Store all they way up north here in B-Town (apparently, the owner loves it).

Having recently acquired some absinthe, I thought I'd make myself a historic cocktail...the Sazerac!

As I've heard, the hurricane cocktail is for tourists, while the Sazerac is for the natives.

So I coated myself a chilled Old Fashioned glass with the absinthe, dipped a sugar cube in a little water, muddled it at the bottle of my new cocktail shaker, added two ounces of whiskey and three or four dash of Peychaud's, added ice, shook very gently, then strained into the absinthe-coated glass...and voila!

A very nice cocktail, I must say.

So how many of you Louisiana (or otherwise) boys enjoy this concotion? And do any of you have your own special recipe for it?
