Viaje Carolina Reaper
This cigar is a dark, rustic looking smoke. The wrapper and foot have slight pepper notes in the aromas. The bunch is solid and the cold draw is somewhat tight. Today’s beverage is a Firestone Nitro Milk Stout.
The draw opens up nicely when the cigar is lit. There are traces of capsaicin in the initial flavors, along with a nice sting in the retrohale. The tobacco notes are tasty as well. The burn is uneven but I will see if it can self correct. The first third continues to burn uneven so I will correct it. Cedar notes have joined the spicy profile for a good flavor mix. The ash is solid. The beer is nice and mellow and is not affecting the flavors of the cigar at all. During the second third the burn is better but still off a bit. The flavors remain very spicy. It’s not completely one dimensional but the spice covers almost everything else. It has a long spicy finish. Approaching the final inch I think this is a good cigar that is medium to full bodied, it’s just that the spice overpowers the blend. Also, the burn never evens out. 7.75/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
