ESPN FC had an Argentine reporter on yesterday who said the very same thing. The AFA is SO corrupt that not only have FIFA threatened to intervene and run things, so has the Argentine government. If the government steps in, that breaks some rules which will have them ineligible for the World Cup in 2018 at the very least.
They can't even book hotels or flights, they owed Tata Martino well over $700,000 which the reporter states was only paid a couple weeks ago.
Then you have Messi getting crucified right, left and center by Argentine "supporters" as well as threats and second-guessing from Maradona who many forget was a shit coach. Plus Messi left at age 11, signed for Barca at 13, they love his ability and scoring, but to many he's not "Argentine enough." They prefer cheating cokeheads.
