As a musician like Mannish, I understand the reasoning behind the copyright laws and why they should be followed. I don't like the idea of anyone stealing our music either. I don't think it's wise to admit illegally obtaining music online though so I'll refrain from that. However, the RIAA (and the MPAA) have taken it so far overboard and convinced congress to write so many STUPID requirements into the law it can be far more strict than it needs to be. Artists get very little of the actual sales because labels pay them so much up front in production and concert costs and many of them give up the rights to their music, especially when they're new to the business. When you invest millions into someone or something, you're going to protect your investment.
As radical as that cartoon seems, it's not too far off the mark.
