That's a real shame. Unfortunately, it happens a lot. Our softball coach wasn't a doormat. She worked the girls. They ran a mile before every practice, and they practiced hard! But she treated them with respect, and they respected her.
I think you have to give HS athletes some respect, even though they just kids. I don't say you let them run over you, but you don't treat them like dogs either.
