My advice would be to try to pick up a used Gaggia Espresso. It may cost more than $50 but you will have a least a chance of making some really good espresso. Gaggia's are the most highly rated low end home machines. Also remember the grinder is often more important than the espresso machine. Well made espresso just doesn't come cheap but you can get a good ROI if you think of what a latte at *$ cost or even the daily brew from 7/11 and how often you buy them.
