I did receive my humidor yesterday. Everything was great, thanks mike for the cigar. I know this sounds dumb, but i am not sure about filling the humidifier. I ordered the 50/50 solution. The el rey came w/ 2 round humidifiers, i realize there are probably better ones. Anyway i am guessing that they don't come apart, do they? otherwise, there was several holes on top for letting moisture out, but there was one hole just a little larger. Is this where you would put the solution in? Also how do you know when these are saturated enough? I have seen these on humidors in the cigar shops, where the humidor is on the lid, mine is not since it is a glass top. I sure someone knows please help. Newbie lost!

Just take the discs out and pour some distilled water over the holes. Let it soak in, but don't saturate it because any excess moisture needs somewhere to go. If it's completely full of solution it won't bring down the humidity. If you live somewhere that has a high humidity in the summer, you'll need to capacity.

You say you bought solution? It's much cheaper to buy PG from an online source or a local pharmacy and mix your own. I just buy pints from WalMart and it lasts quite a long time.

Make sure to season the humi well before you start adding sticks! Good luck.

I guess now the question is how do you get the disc's out. Does it pop off, because it seemed like it didn't give. Does it screw off? They are the round black ones that i guess come with a lot of the humidors i have seen on the internet.

I think he meant just remove the humis from the humi. I just put water into mine, I was under the impression that they were already "charged".

Be careful not to completely saturate it.

Oh yeah, I tried to pour water in before opening it. Just twist it a little so that the holes open up. Do the pouring over a sink just in case. I don't think the case opens easily.
