Humidity Help

Hey guys...My 150 count humidor has been holding a steady humidity of 68 - 70, and my cigars have been smoking fine. Suddenly last week, the humidity shot up to 75 . I have 2 salt-tested hygrometers, and both agree. The humidity in the Northeast has shot up, and it has been raining for days, but can I attribute this jump to the ambient humidity? I removed the humidifier from the humidor, and the humidor is now holding steady at 71 for the past few days. Any advice from the experts???
