to tube or not to tube... that is the question

GENTS!
I'm writing an article on "Tubos"... And it's always interesting to me when I have to write about something that I'm not THAT personally familiar with. I mean sure, I've smoked cigars that come in tubes... but can't think of one that I smoke regularly in a tube, or that I would PREFER in a tube over a non-tube.

SO... what do you think? Are you a fan of the Tube? What are your favs?

Makes no difference to me. The tube always ends up in the trash for me. I smoked a RyJ Rothschild Tubo on Monday night....tube ended in the trash. I think it LOOKS cooler, but makes no difference to me at all.

Good luck!

The Tube, definitely! Without it I wouldn't be able to watch football, racing, er...

No, no preference.

I definitely enjoy the protection a tube offers to a cigar, as well as the need not to have humidification as long as the tube stays sealed.

Good point tommy. Much easier to transport w/ a tubo, IMO its much easier then bringing a traveldor.

Does anyoen keep their tubos? If so, what do you do with them? For some weird reason i always feel guilty about throwing them out...like they have some ability to be re-used...i know i'm weird.

I'm in favor of them, especially a Romeo y Julieta Churchill or Clemenceau en Tubos. I'd say the Churchill is my day to day cigar.

only thing about tubos is that usually the cigar isnt as visually pleasing as the same cigar non-tubed since on the retailer shelves you see the pretty tube and not the cigars wrapper...

I've used a couple as credos, by drilling lots of small holes in the tube and filling them up with beads.
Other than that, in the trash they go once the cigar is smoked.

Edit- think Magnus wa son the right track...
the only tubes I've enjoyed enough to buy a box of are H. Uppman Corona Majors. Nothing else on my "want to buy" list in a tubo.

I try to keep the tubes.

I find myself in many situations where it is convenient to carry a cigar in my pocket, and a tube works well for this. So I smoke a tubo every now and again so I have a tube when I need it.

I dont think his question is what do you do with the tube. It's do you prefer to smoke tubed cigars? Do some brands taste better or have different blends for their tubed cigars?

Me. I dont like tubes. It's hard to light them and they have a strong metallic taste.
