I know very little about cigars except the fact that my husband has just found a new passion for them. For Xmas I bought him 19 different cigars I researched (many members recommended them). How can I store them temporarily. Some have cello. Do I take the cello off? I don't want them to dry out. And I don't want to spend another $75 on another humidor to store them till Xmas. Any suggestions?
Thanks |

double zip lock bag should work! make sure to keep them in some cool place, where temperture dosenot change a lot during day and night, away from sun light!
If your husband really like cigar, I would say buying him a humidor is not a bad idea. Humidor is not that expansive, you can buy one around $25, here's few links you can try http://www.bargainhumidors.com/itemd...asp?SKU=HUM-25 Mike from barginhumidors is also member here, e-mail him and I am sure he can cut you some deal! your husband is a lucky man, and your cigars should be okay for 6 weeks under these seal bag! The ziplock bag is a great idea. You can also buy a small humistat tube from JR CIGARS that you can put in the ziplock bags along with the cigars.
Veterans...the USA Thanks you.

you can also use a tuperware...get a organic sponge and put some distilled water on it...nice seal...just remember to open it up once in awhile to get some fresh air in...
tell your hubby...welcome to the darkside...

FYI - it's a good idea to use only a little bit of water, as too much may cause mold to grow on the sponge, and worse, on the cigars.

I agree with the tupperware, and use very little water. You can call the tupperware, a tupperdor/humidor.

Thanks for the info but what about the celo that each cigar is wraped in? I have kept the cigars in their celo so far but do i need to take each cigar out of their celo wrap?

Its not going to make that big of a difference if any. The humidity will still be okay. Some of us leave the wrappers on there if we are going to mix cigars of different brands. If they are all the same, than it doesn't matter.
Another good reason to leave the wrapper on is, that it gives the cigars more protection. So since you have 19 different cigars, I would leave the wrappers on.

Cheaper than Tupperware are the new "Gladware" containers made by, as you might expect, Glad. You'll find them in your local market, and they are only a few dollars.
