Project Humidor
I had mentioned in another thread about the Cedar trays that they were for a little project Humidor I was working on. Sounded like people were interested so I thought I would post up some pics.
I constructed the basic chest out of Birch Plywood and stained it and varnished about a month ago. During that time I placed a custom order with Bargain Humidors for one of their Cedar Liners and 4 cedar trays. The liner came in on Monday and my Cedar trays just arrived Wed so I've been busy getting everything put together. Its not perfet yet still have some more sanding to do but its pretty close. And this is my first major attempt at woodworking on my own so its not perfect but a decent first try. . Enjoy Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6 Pic 7 Pic 8 Pic 9 |

Looks great. I'm sure it must feel really good to have made it yourself. Now all you have to do it fill it up.

Actualy I wasn't able to find any plans online that really fit what I was looking for, but I knew what I wanted basicaly. So I just sketched up some plans and went to work. I've had some expeirence with building speaker boxes for Subwoofers and for Home Theatre so I knew the basics of how to construct the chest I just had to come up with the dimensions I wanted. I can post them up if your interested.

When I get home from my tour in Korea, my first woodworking project is to build my own humidor.

That looks absolutely awesome. Is that just regular stain on the outside? Love the slide out drawer. I need to build me one of these to keep at home for aging.

A couple people had asked about dimensions and I finally found my sketches and numbers. This was made out of 3/4 Birch Plywood, the interior iw1/4 Solid Spanish Cedar.
3 Pieces 15.5 X 30 inches (back, front and bottom) 2 Pieces 15.5 X 17 inches (sides left and right) 1 Piece 17 X 31.5 inches (top) So finished dimensions are 31.5 long, 16.25 tall by 17 deep. Aproximately. I'm just about finished mounting the shelves and getting started stocking the beast. I'll post some pictures when I finish the shelves and have begun stocking it soon. |
