Tobacco Blending
Is there any truth in this? I've heard that cigars have a tendency to "blend" flavors if they are stored in the humi in contact with each other. I've always tried to keep like brands and vitolas with like. Do I really need to worry about this?

Flavor marrying is a myth.

Your cigars are much more likely to pick up the cedar flavor from your humidor than the subtle nuances from the particular regional variations in their tobacco blends.

Although sometimes I'll throw a few Connies in with my Habanos in the hopes that the Cubans will taste like finely aged Cubans.

I'm sure there is something to this - but not to the level that you should worry about. I know that when I stuff cigars in a fuente don carlos box I realize how much they pick up off the box. It's one the strongest smelling boxes out there.

This is good news. I've been obsessed with keeping them separate, dividing them with the thin veneer of cedar that comes in the cigar boxes I get. You've just increased the capacity of my humi!
Thanks! |

BUT - don't throw any flavored, scented, etc in with your other smokes.

The only downside of keeping different blends and tobaccos together I can think of is that it will affect the smell of the cigars. But that's hardly a major point for judging cigars.
