My local tobacconist had a handful of these left in an old box. From the yellowing celo wrappers it looked like they had some nice age on them, and there was a tiny bit of plume. I bought a handful just for the fact they were obviously aged, and was further rewarded with a cheap $3.25 price/each.
Pre-light inspection was good, firm throughout, not hard and no soft spots. This cigar had a very slick, oily, dark rich wrapper, with a little tooth. Before torching it I savored the tingle of the tobacco and noted a distinct aftertaste of almonds - never had that before. Draw was nearly perfect. Upon lighting, it produced average smoke volume and burned a little uneven but corrected itself. Taste and body were a solid medium, with that distinct almond finish consistently throughout the cigar. There was a unique sort of complexity to this cigar, nothing overpowering, but some really interesting undertones of spice, almonds, cedar, and a very slight hint of pepper. It also had a pleasing earthy aroma to it, which further hightened the profile. I rather enjoyed this cigar, although the almond taste was a little unusual. For the price I was especially impressed. I will likely add these to my regular rotation. Highly recommeded. I forgot to mention, this was the Rothchild.
