Why use beads?

For all the years I have kept cigars, I have used florist foam, initially charged with 50/50 I make myself, and recharged with distilled water. I have never had any problems with over or underhumidification, dry cigars or wet ones.

For some reason, I have become interested in using beads. Lots of threads about HOW to use them, but can anybody tell me any real advantages that beads have over florist foam that might make it worth my while to shell out the bucks for them?

Thanks...
