Italian Turkey Sunrise in a Barrell...

My new invention!

Please to let I essplayne, to joo.

The Italian Turkey Sunrise in a Barrell...

Combine:

1/2 ounce of Caravella Orangecello Originale Liqueur from Italy. (30% alc)

1 1/2 ounce of Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon. From the good Old U S of A (54.4 % alc!)

5 ice cubes in a 16oz (pint glass) then top with cola of choice (I like Pepsi)

Mix completely.

I'm not a "Sweet Cocktail" person as a rule but, this came out rather well and even takes the Fire Breath edge off of the 108.4 proof Turkey. Plus it's not that sweet.

Pair it (after Dinner!) with a full flavor smoke and it's Great! I'm enjoying a robust Oliva Serie V Robusto and they go well together.

Plus........a couple of these will mellow Ya right out!

I would love to hear about some of Your Favorite non typical mixed drinks as well.

Cheers, Literally!

note: this is not to be confused with the La Cosa Nostra metaphor for a completely different type of event, involving barrels and people whom have in some way offended, said organization.

Gee this was a popular post!

I had it again tonight and still liked it. Not an everyday cocktail for sure, but still fairly well balanced for a "Made Up" concoction.

Anyone?

Sounds good but what a waste of Rare Breed!

Waste of Rare Breed, indeed...........
Rare Breed is not "just for effect" drinking, it's for sipping.

Valid point, but it's fairly stiff sipper IMHO.

I guess I prefer a good Single Malt for sipping.

I was just pleasently surprised at the successful combination. Most ladies don't do straight liquer. This was an attempt to make it palatible for a BROADER audience, so to speak.

Domestic stuff seems to blend better than a lot of the other scotches.

I was also interested in Your home blends.

I think I'd use something from say a 1.75 liter bottle for this, rather than the rare breed.
