Humid summer affecting storage
Hey all,
So I'm noticing that with my humidifier in my humidor my humidity reading is staying at about 74-76%. However when I took the humidifier out for the night, I woke up this morning to 71% with no humidfying element inside. Is this normal to have when the weather is humid? Outdoor humidity has been 65-80% over the past few weeks. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The seal on the humidor should be tight enough to not be affected by outside humidity.
Assuming your hygrometer is digital, I'd leave the humidifying element out until humidity drops to 65%, which I find to be a better level for smoking. Hope that helps?! |

Very good answer. Started to make some humidity comments in the your humidor thread, but didn't know about humidity where you live.

I, too, would recommend leaving the humidifying element out until the RH is 65, assuming you have a digital hygrometer. If you're using one of those cheap plastic analog ones then you need to toss it and get a digital.
The next step would be to replace your humidifying element with humidity beads, unless of course you are already using them.

I'm currently using the analog hygrometer that came with my humidor, and the humidifier that came with it, is one of the small discs with a sponge in it I believe

How soon will your digital arrive?
In the meantime, I'd remove the humidity device. What type A/C do you have & how often do you use it? |

My humidor is on the ground floor, we don't have AC down there. We open the windows. I also haven't ordered the digital yet, I've had several people tell me the analog was fine once it was calibrated properly, which I followed the instructions exactly on that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If the temperature gets too high, 74F., or above, tobacco Beetles could be a problem.
Might want to relocate your humidor to the A/C room. This will prolly fix your humidity problem, too. Last edited by Sancho Panza; 07-09-2016 at 10:59 AM. |

Worth the investment to get a digital hygro and, as stated, remove the humidifying device until in the mid-60's. May need to open the lid and let out some of the humidity...... |
