Took my 16yr old son to see Taking Back Sunday and Jimmy Eat

Took him to his first concert at the Reno Hilton last night. I have not been to a concert in about 15 years so I was sort of dreading it. He met up with some of his friends there so he quickly kicked me to the curb. I stayed out of the crowd of probably abut 1500 people and hung back.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the shows were. I have heard some of the songs from both bands when my son listens to their CD's but their live show was not bad.

I think the best performers were Taking Back Sunday. Lots of energy and they played a few "new" songs that were very good.

Jimmy Eat World was less energetic but their sound and singing was a little better.

Overall it was a fun night for us and my ears are still ringing.

My 18 yr old called and asked me when I was playing again, turns out some of his friends appreciate what I do so now he is starting to realize that people
do like his dad's old folks type music Unfortuntely the next time I play is a club where he can't get in. It is only temporary for one night with a electric band called 'Buzzard Meat' (seriously)

I told him to just bring all his friends over and I'd have a jam or something.
I love it when younger people dig what I do.

My 15 yr old loves the blues & since McCains serves no alcohol he gets to see
and meet some great artists.

Tonight the wife and I are looking forward to seeing Leon Russell should have some great pictures

My dad used to take me to go hear live jazz when I was a teenager. Back then the bars didn't seem to mind if a kid came in with his dad. My oldest son is just getting to the point where he can sight-read a fake book on his fiddle pretty well, and we've got a Django-type thing going. I hope that within a year or two that can be our Saturday night entertainment for ourselves and friends. Actually, that's really about all I want out of life.

Too bad you couldn't have taken him to see a concert where they play actual music.
