Wilco and Son Volt
Both - as you all know - the products of the break-up of Uncle Tupelo.
I prefer each of the bands' first efforts after the break-up. Being There by Wilco is, IMO, the definitive album of the genre. I can listen to that CD, and have, over and over again without tiring. Straightaways, by Son Volt, is almost as good although I prefer the anguish(?) in Tweedy's voice, thus my preference for the Wilco effort. I think the Son Volt effort rocks a bit more. The successive efforts by Son Volt have been less impressive than the Wilco follow-ons but still prefer the initial recordings from each.
