Although I don't typically spend over $100 per bottle, I can't even think of mixing two scotches, even at the $60ish I usually pay. What if it goes horribly badly? Also, the bottle of 15 year old Glenfiddich I recently purchased goes just fine by itself.
That said, I will certainly read your article and allow you to convince me. |

My intent with the latest "A Rich Pour" column is to open peoples' eyes to both the feasibility and fun of trying their hands at blending together single malt whiskies at home.

I think I'm going to try awakening a Glenmorange 10 yr with a small amount of Laphroaig 10 yr of a Lagavulin. The Glenmorange seems dull sometimes if the stars are not alligned..What ya think Douglas...

With the Glenmorangie 10YO, you've picked an incredibly versatile Northern Highland single malt with which to 'play around with'.
My personal choice for embellishment purposes would be the Laphroaig, as its ex-Bourbon barrel vanilla overtones seem, to me, better matched to the nutty and spicy nuances of the Glenmorangie. Go easy with the amount of Laprhoaig you add, and you should be onto something tasty.

Do you ever blend bourbons or American whiskeys?
