I'm always interested to hear your take on any cigar, Aiz, and this time around is no exception.
It strikes me that we experienced both parallel and divergent aspects of this particular cigar... Parallels: That surprisingly mild opening portion followed by a gradual escalation in presence. The overall quality of construction. A rather enjoyable flavour profile. Differences: The remarkable surge in spiciness you experienced during the middle portion of your session. That 'leathery' trait, which can be found in some of the regular VR vitolas, toward the finish. The tunneling you suffered through (my sample, in contrast, tended toward a more conical ash). I have to say that one of the major reasons I decided to have a go with this cigar was the hearty recommendation of the manager at my local LCDH. He enthused that I'd enjoy a typical VR flavour profile taken to the next level of intensity, so to speak. However, my personal experience ended up being quite the opposite. I've had many a Famosos that seemed much more densely powerful than this VRER. Nonetheless, as I stated in my review, it's still young days for this cigar, and that criticism may change with time. Thanks for the review!
