Storing conditions
Fellas,
I need opinions or answers? If I keep my humidors in my apartment the temperature is between 72 to 74 and RH is around 68. If I put them in my basement the temperature is around 62 and the RH about 65. Upstairs I know I am flirting with infestation. What about the basement any good? Best Regards, Matt |

If your RH is accuratley read at 65 in the basement and there is no water issues. the cooler temp will eleviate the potential for larvae to hatch.

I vote for the basement; less chance of beetles hatching in the cooler temperature.

Basement
My coolerdor is in the basement. With warm weather on the way, I will have it close to the HVAC unit to keep it cool. That also keeps RH under control. Holding at 67% right now.

FWIW every box of Habanos comes with a little leaf of paper detailing proper storing conditions for the cigars, it reads "These Havanas have been made from the finest tobacco in the world. For fullest enjoyment, these cigars should be stored in a humidor away from products with strong odour and under correct conditions of temperature (16C-18C) and humidity (65%-70%)."
Now as long as my conversion is right this puts the temp at 60F-65F so you should be fine at 61 in your basement. |
