Estate Pipes and a new smoker

I've been thinking about getting a pipe to supplement my cigar smoking and have been lurking around the Pipe Room for a couple weeks, reading all the primers and checking out the links. I am amazed how much traffic this forum gets compared to the cigar forums!

I was telling a friend about this and he said he had been looking to get into pipes as well. His Dad left him a handful of pipes when he passed 10+ years ago and he sent me some pics that include some lovely Meerschaum pipes. Not sure of brand or age on any of them, but we are getting together in a couple of weeks to get these back in smoking condition as they haven't been touched in over 15 years.





I have been doing a lot of reading on the sanitation and removing of oxidation of the stem as well as the cleaning of the Meerschaum bowl which seems straightforward but delicate. Not sure what tobacco we will smoke, but my local cigar shop sells pipe tobacco and I plan to check that out. Looking forward to learning and contributing here.
