sam adams 13th hour

came in a 750 ml champagne type bottle. chocolate, coffee, burnt caramel, little wood, overall, pretty tasty. No head, no carbonation to speak of. Little tartness, strongly malty. overall, worth the money.

It's supposed to be a belgian, I guess it fits that profile. I liked it in that it was well balanced. no massive hit of hops, not cloyingly malty, tartness to balance the sweetness, stout like flavor notes, it was a very complex brew, without any one aspect being taken to an extreme.

It's got to be really new. I've never seen it before. What's really funny is that it was only 9%, but by the time the bottle was gone, i'd taken real hit. I was good and buzzed.

I'd really love to see this stuff packed in 4 packs of 12 oz bottles, like some of the other super premium beers; I'd like to be able to just have a glass 4 times instead of one bottle.

I refrigerated it far too long. Drink it cool, not cold. I think that would have improved it a lot, if it was a bit warmer. I stuck it in the freezer to chill it quickly, and forgot about it.
