Help, I got bugs

Ok, I just got back from taking a look at my humi and I have one H.Upmann Habana with a nice gaping whole in it. I checked out all the other sticks in the humidor and they don't have any bites yet. Will this spread if I take out there bad cigar? Any advice?

I'll tell you what's worked for me. Remove any cigar that shows signs of infestation. Smoke 'em or trash 'em...your choice. Just get them out of there. Place the cigars that were in contact with the infected cigars in ZipLoc bags. Remove as much air as possible from the bags and place in the freezer for 3 days. Remove and place in the fridge for 2 days. Remove and place at room temp for 1 day. Remove and place back in the humidor.

The freezing should kill any bugs in the cigars. The slow removal from cold/low humidity (freezer) to warm/high humidity (humidor) will aid in avoiding torn wrappers.

I always treat incoming Cuban cigars this way. Why? Because the Cubans do a lowsy job of treating their smokes. I have never had an outbreak in my NC humidor.

Many will give you different techniques, but this one has worked for me in both avoiding infestations and clearing up an existing problem. Good luck.

I was thinking the same thing but did not know if it was going to work. I did not find any other holes in other sticks, hopefully this will work.

Thanks a million for the tip. I will report back and post what happens.

Just saw the sticky. Damn, I give some good advice!

The freezer method has been around for a long time. It should work for you.

Is the hole a perfect circle? Also, empty your humidor and see if you can find the offending beetle. If it's just one hole, it's probably just one beetle. Otherwise it's probably still in the cigar.

In which case you'll likely hear a 'pop' sound somewhere along the line after lighting the cigar up.

To the post above, also put the ziploc'd cigars in the fridge for a day before freezing to help acclimatize them.
The method really works.
