Elton John

I know Gui Tarzan likes some of EJ's early stuff (Captain Fantastic).

I think EJ put out some good music, in his early days. But the since the late 80s, nothing really impressive to me.

Could it be they put out so many albums in so few years (under contract) that they burned out?

Another note I found interesting, is Bernie Taupin and Elton John, didn't actually sit down together in the same room and write songs. Bernie wrote the lyrics, sent them to Elton, who then arranged the music to them.
I wonder how common that is, that the lyricist has no input on the musical arrangement?
