Regarding wine and spirits, I used to get korbel brandy once in a while. I looked at a bottle of that Gallo stuff the other day and was kinda surprised that it was half the price of cheap bourbon.
It occurred to me that cheap brandy is a great way to get rid of bad wine and bad grapes. I also started thinking about the cost of four years of barrel aging that goes into even cheap bourbon. So, it began to make sense. |

Bourbon is also in high demand right now, one assumes it is subject to the same laws of supply and demand and boom/bust as other things, say cigars, tulips and beanie babies.

Not to mention the drop in quality driven by high demand. As with the cigar boom of the 90s, I have been finding Bourbons labelled as being 10 years old, in beautiful bottles, that are truly awful. I mean best used to disinfect wounds awful.

I think there is a lot of good whiskey and whisky out there, it does tend to be more expensive right now. There is still value is some brands to be had.
