Cigar Caddy Blues
Anybody else have this happen? Just curious ...
I have my cigar caddy with about 8-9 smokes in it, take it to the weekly herf. Smokey enviornment, of course, and throughout the eventing go into my caddy for smokes as I need them. After the evening, come home, take my smokes out of my caddy and put them back in my hummi. Now, a few days later, the inside of my caddy smells like burned cigars. I assume its from opening it in the smoke filled room. Anybody else have this happen? and if so, did it have any affect on keeping cigars in the caddy in the future? Or am I just Paranoid Guy

I don't know if it will leave any permanent funk in there but you could just leave it open for a few days to air it out.

Probably the foam absorbed a lot of the smoke. Airling it out as suggested would probably work.

when my traveldor is not in use, it's in my coolerdor...
i put it in there with the latch keeping the lid up about 1/2" the main reason is to keep it's cedar lining at 65%... it's not something i'd want to be dried out, as i would'nt put cigars into a dry desktop neither. but i suggest you do this, so that the trapped air in your case does'nt turn stale on you. if it's plastic with foam inside, and no cedar... just don't worry about having it in the humidor, but don't put it away closed. |

I bought a used Road Warrior travel humi on eBay and when it showed up the inside of it STANK of stale cigar smoke. Really nasty. I removed the foam trays and tried virtually everything to get the smellout, soaking them in various kinds of soap solutions but to no avail. I ended up getting replacement trays.
Short story is yes, I think the foam is very quick to take on the odor of cigar smoke.

Here's an idea...
Just leave it open for a few days! Also, spray some Fabreze on the foam. That will take care of the odor! |

Quit carrying dog rockets like the (sublimes and the famosos) and maybe the smell will improve.
