The Buggles
Once again, the ultimate MTV trivia answer rears it ugly head...
Random thoughts on the Buggles: When The Age of Plastic was released, I was a faithful reader of Stereo Review, especially the music reviews. I still remember the SR reviewer (Steve Simels) relegating the album to the wasteland of the bargain bins. This, of course, before the MTV execs decided to "immortalize" them... I remember thinking that the song was decent, but that Bruce Wooley and the Camera Club did a much better version (Wooley co-wrote the song)... The official end of Yes (until the "reunion" phase) was, of course when Steve Howe hired the Buggles to be a part of the band...and it degenerated into Asia... BTW, in case anyone here doesn't know what I'm talking about, The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" was the first music video ever aired on MTV (Aug, 1981).
