Dry Beads

ok, I've read all of the bead threads and still have the same question so I'm going to ask.

My problem is high humidity, its relatively minor but it still makes my smokes too wet for my tastes. I prefer 62% but through the summer I find the humi climbing to 68%.(I can tell the difference instantly between something stored at 68% vs 62%).

The question relating to beads is this, are beads in their "natural" form(solid white) active? I know you obviously have to add water to make them active as a humidifer, but should they be damp to absorb moisture as well?

I have almost 3 pounds of pure white beads that are not helping to reduce the humidity. Should I spritz them?
