Everybody Loves Philadelphia...
...at least if your a potential hall of fame pitcher.
When they built Citizen Bank Park all I heard was that the Phillies would never sign a big time pitcher because no pitcher would ever want to pitch in this "hitters" ball park. First Roy Halladay not only wanted to come to Philadelphia, he agreed on a multi-year extension for far less money than he could have received in the free agent market. Next Roy Oswalt agrees to waive his no trade clause and come to Philadelphia. Now the blockbuster of all blockbusters, Cliff Lee is coming HOME to Philadelphia for less money and years than he could have received from the Yankees & Rangers. Even when we acquired Roy Halladay last year, there was mixed emotions. We were thrilled to get Halladay but Philly fans were equally upset that we were losing Cliff Lee & Cliff Lee was equally upset he was leaving Philadelphia. The Phillies have sold out 129 regular season games in a row (plus each and every playoff game), one thing I know for sure you can add another 81 games to that total because they will sell out every game this year.
