I remember Seifert's and Charles were pretty good, but I like Zapp's crawtaters.

I had forgotten as a kid my grandparents had Charles chips delivered to their house by the Charles Chip truck. It came in a big tin can. I still have one of those cans somewhere. I doubt that company is still around. Man, that is a walk down memory lane. That was over 50 years ago.

Rewind the clock, there was a local company called Kitty Clover that was fantastic. Probably so good because they were so fresh, maybe only days old. Unfortunately, they succumbed to the national brands.

After Mr. Ron Zapp died (my wife took care of him in the hospital in BR), the family sold the company to Utz, an old east coast brand. They are more widely distributed now (both of them).

So you can get Charles chips online, 16 ounce can is $26.99.

Zapps were never the same. Last ones I had were a greasy, overly salty mess.

Best chip I ever had was years ago out of a vending machine, Bob's Texas Jalapeño kettle cooked. Since I left the shipyard in 1997, I've not had one since.

Well damn...seems Bob's has been bought out by Utz too. Dammit.
