Yeah, i was certainly expecting better, but it just didn't quite make it to anything more than good/very good. It certainly didn't blow me away by any means, and you may be right that they were just never anything special. It was either that, or it had passed its prime. Can't really say without having a fresh one to compare to.

Was still a good cigar that I enjoyed smoking, just wasn't what I was expecting from a well aged EL Montecristo.
