Windowed Coolerdor?

Anyone here get creative enough to slap a plexiglas window in the top of their coolerdor? Personally, I think it would be a sweet idea, but is it feasible?

Cut a large rectangular hole and glue the window on the underside with some RTV sealant, maybe? Then get some rubber edging material and put it on the lip of the cut so it doesn't look so horrid.

I may just try this....

Also, where's the best place to get a 150qt or better cooler? Costco stopped carrying them now that it's fall

Why not just use a "clear" Rubbermaid or Sterlite container?

That is, if temperature stability is not an issue.

True, but I think a window would look cool. It might be harder to do than I originally thought because of the thickness of some of these lids.

After you try it, post some pictures and let us know how it worked. What about Sam's Club or Walmart?

I guess if you are determined to try, some kind of window channel or gasket should work, maybe something like a car windshield gasket?

Check out your local building supply store. Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

It is a cool Idea and I think that if you got yourself a cooler to use you might find that the lid is hollow and you might be able to slide the pexiglass in and seal it.

I used a sterlite tupperware thingy, (the clear lid type.) with a dozen 1/4 inch holes drilled into the bottom. Cut a hole in the top of the cooler to fit, dropped the sterlite in with some silicone caulk around the edge and allow to dry.

I can now read the hygrometer without having to open the cooler. It's also easier to change the batteries on the unit or change it out alltogether if and when it craps out.

Seems like a lot of messing around just to gaze at your little beauties. Just buy the 152 quart Igloo which has the small trap door on the top of the lid. That way you can gaze at your treasure without opening the entire cooler up. Mine works great and I can grab a smoke quickly without opening up the whole cooler.

I just love the KISS method. Well done.

Hey, that is a good idea. Too bad I picked up two 120s at wally world that were on sale, lol. Usually what I'll do is transfer a few from my cooler to my smaller humidor for a couple of days before smoking. It's a habit I got into, lol.
