Savannah, Ga.?

The wife and I are heading down to Savannah in April and I was wondering if anyone knows of any cigar shops or lounges in the River St. area. Help me out my Georgia brothers.

Well, there's nothing in the Where To Smoke Database, sorry. Hopefully one of the locals will chime in.

The Tinder Box Savannah is still there, I think. I've also heard that Savannah Cigars has a decent house cigar.

The only smoke shop worth going to in Savannah, IMO, is the Tinder Box on Bull Street. John and staff will treat you right and there is almost always a box of Opus X in the back, just ask. Gallery Expresso is next door and the Six Pence Pub is across the street. If you see a young guy with beard typing away on a 12" iBook in the coffee shop, say hello

The cigar shop in City Market and Ye Olde Tabacco Shop on Bay Street and on the southside are tourist traps. Ye Olde Tabacco is popular, must do good businesses, but the prices are high and the staff are pushy IMO. They're the kind of places that sell xXx for $45 a stick.

Basically, if you're staying in the historic district you can walk to the Tinder Box from anywhere. It is just north of Bull and Liberty Streets on Chipawaa Square. And with a bar across the street and coffee house next door, the area makes for great laid back afternoon.

Enjoy

Don't know if this isanywhere near your destination, but this guy is a BOTL from another board:

If you go, you can tell him Josh sent you.

Hope that helps, enjoy your travels.
