I got bitten (and have a question too)

Hey Guys,

This is my first post on the boards, although I've been sneaking around for the last few weeks.

My story is the same as many of yours I'm sure... I'm totally bit by the cigar bug (no, not the little ones pesky ones). Just got picked up an El Rey humidor. Seasoned perfectly with an Oshkosh and sits rock solid around 70%. Now, 3 weeks later I have this baby packed to the teeth and have enjoyed my first few smokes... RyJ Vintage #2, MonteCristo Series V, Fuente Don Carlos #3, Fuente 8-5-8. All have been top notch!

Here's my question though...

I've noticed that my Western Hygrometer reads 70% in the top tray of the El Rey and 65% when placed in the bottom of the humidor. I'm not fretting this at all, but I was curious as to why this would happen. From what I've read, the humidity is supposed to settle... not rise.

Even stranger, I've read a few posts on this message board about the el rey and they all indicate the same thing... the humidity is always higher in the top tray.

Like I said, I'm not bothered by this, just curious why it happens!

Thx!

Jom
