Avallo Seal Question

I have an Avallo 1200 cabinet, the end table-ish sized one. I noticed that the humidity fluctuates with the humidity in my house over a long period of time, i.e. in the summer it gets way high and in the winter the fans go on all the time. So last night as I was refilling my cannisters again, I noticed that there is approximately a 1/4" hole in the back near the right side cannister for the wire and plug to connect the Accumonitor with a power source. Is that supposed to be open like that? I always thought that the seal problem was in the thin foamy stuff around the door or possibly the glass top, but now that I see that there's actually a hole for air exchange, however small, I want to plug it up. Anyone have any suggestions or realize that their hole is already plugged up?
