Glenfarclas 12 year old Scotch
I bought my first bottle of this yesterday. I tend to like my Scotch with 15 years age or more, but I had read a few good things about this Scotch and wanted to try it.
I take my Scotch over ice and I love the way a drink changes flavor over the course of the ice melting. To start, this was a very crisp Scotch with heavy wood notes. As the ice began to melt, the character of the drink changed to a smooth, woody taste with a hint of fruit. It simply got better and better until I was looking at the bottom of the glass wishing for another swallow. So, I refilled the glass and started the journey anew. The one thing that would have improved the experience would have been a little longer finish on the tongue. With a good drink, it's nice to savor the complexity just a bit longer. I happened to catch this bottle offered with two very nice glasses, etched with their name. At just shy of $40, this is a good value. |
