In the days of yore...
Evidently in the days of yore guys would sew chamois around their meerschaum to keep their filthy hand imprints off'n it. Can't say if it worked or not. But it makes for a pleasant tactile sensation.
The pipe is an old Kaywoodie Meerschaum Bulldog. I'm guessing 30s-40s.
