Ashes to Ashes.

I've been putting my ashes in this little metal can on my deck. The only issue is that is it rains and it gets all yucky...

I was wondering what do you guys to with your ashes and left over nubs? I don't want to keep them in the house cause of the smell.

I smoke in the house nightly now (works GREAT if you put a fan by the window facing out, and sit right next to the fan. I don't get ANY after-smell that way.)

I use an old paper cigar box as an ashtray and just shut the lid when I'm done. It seals up great and I still don't get any smell in the house (unless I forget and leave it open). When it's full I just dump it in the backyard. Lit nubs aren't hot enough to start fires - at least not here in humid GA. When I smoke outside I just toss them into the yard and mow over them later.

Check out the air purifier thread. Note: only butts leave odor, ashes are orderless and do not smell up enclosures. After smoking indoors, I dump ashes in the trash and store buts in a ziploc bag. When full, it gets tossed.

i dump the nubs in one particular planting bed. decent mulch. even have a few tobacco plants in there.

ashes get dumped in the chimenia and eventually tossed in the compost bin.

Dumping your ashes and butts in flower/vegetable garden beds runs the risk of tobacco mosaic virus on your plants(tobacco and tomatoes especially). fyi

I have a separate trash can in the garage. I use that.

thanks for the info on the virus, kerch.
no veggies or flowers in the planting bed. c'mon, its a manly cigar garden. the cigar butt mulch hasnt seemed to affect the japanese maple, dwarf cypress, black bamboo, tobacco plants or various ornamental grasses.
