I've read that Lennon and McCarthy wrote songs..together. That's why I thought the EJ-BT method was different.
According to Elton, they weren't even in the same town, Bernie would just send him the lyrics, with no suggestions to musical arrangements. And it worked! When Elton quit doing Bernie's songs...his career dived, IMHO. When he got back with Bernie..his songs got better. I just find it interesting.
