Vector Emperor lighter
Someone on another thread suggested this lighter so, on a whim, I picked on up. The lighter arrived today and I can attest this is really a nice lighter for the money ($40-ish). It's got a nice size to it (similar in shape and style to the DuPont Ligne line) and it's a flint-based lighter, which I like. It's got a HUGE flame and is perfect for cigars. By huge I mean wide, not high. Although if you crank it up, you can probably get a high one too. It also has a built-in punch which could come in handy some time I suppose.

Nice. I prefer flint, butane lighters over torches because of reliability. I've had my Dupont for over a year and it works like a charm. I'm sure your lighter will be just as reliable.

Lately I have been seeing a lot of threads regarding the use of Wide Flint lighters as opposed to the torch.
Anybody want to comment on their preference?

To me, there's just something about using a traditional flame to light your cigar. I also use a Zippo lighter although I suspect that won't get as much use now.
There are really only two drawbacks to a regular flame that I can find. The first is they don't work too well in the wind. The Zippo gets around this and stays lit but it can still be difficult to light a cigar if it's windy outside. The other is a torch really works better for touch-ups and corrections. |

Flint all the way. I have two Prometheus Churchills and a Colibri: nice soft flame, reliable and classy.
