Laphroaig
mmmmm Tried this for the first time last night, and WOW! I have only indulged in Highland SM and Blends thus far in my Scotch experience. The Laphroaig 10 yr. is totally different than what I've exposed myself to. So, WOW is what came out after the first sip. I didn't add any water or ice since this was my first tasting. Right off the smoky taste takes over and reminds me of the English Blend pipe bacci that I smoke. This resembled a Liqueur in some aspects, since it has an oily body to it. I would say this is the perfect Scotch if one is wanting to try an Islay whisky.
The only drawback that I see is the cigar I chose did not match up with this drink. I smoked an Oliva "O" Classic which couldn't stand up to the Laphroaig. I will try this with a fuller bodied smoke next time. Only a dram is needed of this malt, and one can only sip small amounts. This was a really enjoyable drink and I have to give Doug (Jazznut) my complements for suggesting this one. samiam
