I'll Drink to That! What is your favorite beverage to have with a cigar? Juice? Cola? Beer? Port? Single Malt Scotch? This room is for the discussion of beverages, especially alcoholic beverages that go well with cigars! |

FÈIS ÌLE 2020 - Laphroaig
April 26th afternoon there is a virtual "Open Day" event with Laphroaig. I received an email from them last week and RSVP'd but was not able to post the link here. I assume if you just go to the Laphroaig website you can get signed up to attend virtually. Good excuse to raise a dram (or two) tomorrow aft! I'm going to crack a bottle of the Select and the Lore while viewing.

I know it's confusing being locked down, but April is over now....

Oops, I hate it when that happens! Let's make that tomorrow aft, MAY 26th. Life will become easier as soon as I master the concept of the calendar--

I well remember a period a couple of decades ago when Laphroaig went through a bad patch, and some issues of the 10-year old were (to put it mildly) 'off'. However, the distillery has certainly pulled up its socks since then. And releases over the last while have generally been of a sterling quality. I've been especially fond of some of the Cairdeas bottlings.

I did view their virtual Open Day yesterday afternoon. It was pretty good -- lasted about an hour, had some Scottish music and it was hosted by their master distiller. There were some stories, various toasts and a Q&A session with questions coming in via email from around the world. I've never tried any of their annual Cairdeas expressions, but have that on my list. Cheers to all--
