New Humi, humidity wont go down...

So im still struggling with my new humi, my 2 analog hygros say 74% nd my new digital hygro says 72% (digi has been salt tested, it is 1% off) ive tried putting my 65% beads in and all that did was make it shoot up to about 80% which i really dont want....so i left the lid open all day today and now its about 71%...any ideas?

Nope, they are dry, all chalky white colored

They can't be dry. If they are dry when you put them in the box, RH will go down. Not up. If RH rises well beyond the setpoint, or above what RH was before you put them in, they are saturated.

I know you tried to dry them. They aren't there yet.

How did you test your hygrometer? If it has been a while since you calibrated your hygro have you replaced the batteries lately? When batteries start to die the hygro will give some really inaccurate readings.

I just bought it actually, its from Cuban Crafters, i used the salt test, i dont think i can calibrate this one, fter about7 1/2 hours in the bag with the salt it measured 74%

7 1/2 hours is not long enough. Give it at least 24 hours to sit then you will have a more accurate reading and know how many points the hygro is off if any.

How full is your humidor?

They hold their RH better when 2/3 full.

When running your salt test, let it stay in there at least over night. I always did mine 24 hours. And, DO NOT use the salt test on the digital hygrometer! Salt water is not good for electronics!!
